Born in the leafy suburbia of Kent, United Kingdom, Stuart Reeves now lives a life far away in the harbour city of Sydney, where he continues his career in the world of luxury hotels and bars, and has had the pleasure of working at some of Sydney’s finest, with some of this city’s best.
Stuart landed his first bar job in 1998 and has enjoyed a decade plus tending bar in both the UK and Australia. A regular contributor to trade press here in Australia, Stuart also currently runs the bar operations of one of Sydney’s preeminent five star hotels, and was awarded the Bar Manager of the Year title in 2008 at the HM Awards, recognising hotels from throughout Asia Pacific.
He’s on a constant quest to satisfy his thirst for knowledge and technique in the world of bartending, and to this end this site becomes a scrapbook for his ideas, musings and an opportunity to share articles of interest with like-minded bar professionals…
Holding a staunch love for the classics yet always a keen eye for new techniques, recipes and approaches, Stuart is continually intrigued to hear of how the kitchen has slowly arrived at the bar, and how the culinary crossover has influenced new recipes that we read/see/taste today.
This site is designed to be a work in progress and welcome your thoughts/suggestions/contributions or questions on anything bar or drinks related. If you would like to contact me please initiate through email utilising the contact page.
A toast now please to all the great drinks we have yet to create and to the people with which we shall enjoy them…
Slainte!
